middle of top paragraph of the page – (line starts, 'legubay...') For text, see picture below.

We are seeing the difference between the effect of the parsah and that of the tzimzum.

The tzimzum is initially a complete removal of the light.

For the master/rav his knowledge is a direct flow from his soul – essential sechel/mind.

But to communicate to others he has to transform his pure sechel – he has to step down – he has to distract himself from his sechel and put himself in the position of one who does not understand anything, and from there relate back to who he is...

For the student the master/rav has to focus on one specific defined piece of knowledge... the student has to learn it that way...

The Baal Shem Tov teaches that when King David learned 2 things from Achitophel they were separate – they were not integrated.

When a true teacher instructs, each thing, each piece leads to further progress and development...

After the teacher conceals his full knowledge from himself, he then reintroduces it, to give the student the full light that is behind the specific piece that he has presented to the student. This is in a manner of kiruv/closeness and not akavah/restraint.
