We are dealing with a rich topic. The Rebbe is explaining how in shefa there is guf ha-arah sichlo – giving of a piece of his sechel/intellect. Ohr/light has a different process. But the transmission of light has an advantage – the light cleaves to the luminary.

If not for the cleaving there would be no light.

Real sight or visibility is seeing how the details are part of a bigger context. This is a uniquely human attribute. This is seeing truth, not just existence. This is seeing the purpose of things. Sight is directly dependent on sechel/mind.

So ohr/light means that the sun brings a new dimension to the entire existence. It says the world is not just tangible – it is visible. It has a context and a purpose.

Daylight is a metaphor for spiritual light.
