We are going through the process that leads the animal soul to greater and greater purity, and increased unity with Godliness...

He reaches the level of partaking of physicality only for the purpose of learning and praying... He goes beyond personal experience. He is focused purely on the revelation of Godliness and fulfillment of his will.

But then the animal goes further!

And how does he make this progress? It has to do with the principle of daas/ דעת. Daas leads him higher. The daas focuses not on the greatness of what he understands but on the reality of it. This enables a leap.

He reflects on 'what am I involved in?' And he comes to the recognition that what he knows of Godliness is just a reflection – a reflection revealed on the worldly level.

Think of a table. It is not just functional. At heart it is a reflection of the malchus/royalty of the human being. This is an example of focusing on the Godly reflection in a worldly object.

And why does the human being have this quality of royalty? This is because he is made in God's image.

This is going beyond the human manifestations, to what he stands for... the Godly reality in the world.

And the animal soul makes the leap and says, 'I need to want, the element of essence...! Which is the Godliness in Torah and Mitzvoth!'

This is the animal soul going way beyond his experience... He says to himself, 'I should want not a reflection, but essence'.

He is held by the world, but he focuses on what he can use it for: Torah and prayer (Torah and tephilah). And what does he get from Torah and prayer? This is God's will.

We all have access to the mindset of the 'animal soul'. We can get distracted by the worldly experience. But our own 'animal soul' brings a perception and question that is higher than world...

Sechel/mind may explain what you see, but daas/דעת is the presence of the reality itself. It doesn't see Godliness, it says, 'I am part of Godliness'. And now the animal soul experiences the truth...

Where does daas come from? It is given from above. It is the reality that made me in the first place! That's where I came from.

There are moments where even an intermediate man (who experiences huge fluctuations) can be purely his Godly soul. Being part of the world is his constant reality, but for a moment he goes into a different reality...

During prayer he can experience the love and awe of God – experience God's presence – be completely free of any worldly effect...
