Jewish souls are rooted in essence. They are chosen.

He revealed Himself and redeemed them from the complete slavery and confusion of Egypt. He says 'I came down to the garden of nuts'. The shell of the nut conceals the fruit. To get the nut the shell must be cracked – and this cracking was the plague of the death of the first born in Egypt.


And this is the theme of all the plagues. This element of separation.


This is indicative of an essential soul character.

And the Exodus from Egypt was just a minor precursor to this principle. It was revealed in a fuller manner with the giving of the Torah at Sinai – the giving of the Torah to Israel and not to the other nations.

At Sinai the orientation of the existence of Israel was completely changed and elevated... Israel was lifted out from a worldly orientation.
