We have seen the difference between essence and reflection.  We went on to say that essence are seen in the functioning world does not reflect the essence as it is in reality.  In the functioning world some kind of description is applicable, but above it is not limited by means of any definition.

Our tendency is to say, ‘if I know what I am relating to then I know it… but this is true in things of the world, but when we talk about Godliness we cannot use definitions and ‘take a piece’ of Him…’  The verse says, ‘remember, you did not see any form… ‘  And if I did not see who is talking to me, how do I retain the sense of relationship and being addressed.

We tend to relate to things we have discovered and learned about.  Our relationship with Him is not from our side – it is from His side.  He gave Himself.  He gave the mitzvoth.    Our relationship is by kabalot ol (receiving).  He is not limited by our identification and definition.
