Questions and comments:

God told Moses to send spies to view the land of Canaan. What is the point of sending these 'spies'. Normally before war the reconnaissance team will go to gather information regarding the campaign.

By contrast the taking of Canaan was not on the basis of natural abilities. So why send them?

And secondly why the use of the verb 'tutooru/tour'? They were sent to spy unobtrusively, not to be tourists!?

Moses told them to observe 3 things: the people, the land, and the cities.
