Light comes effortlessly from the soul and enlivens the body. It is a gift from the essence. The soul gives a quality of its own to the body.
There’s another phase to this - faculties imbued into particular organs [which serve as vessels]. For example the faculty of sight imbued into the eye.
This is called a real inner light [ohr pnimi mamash] - a response to the organ itself.
When sechel/mind dawns on one, he realizes: “there’s something beyond myself and my needs and experiences.” This is like the experience of sight - ‘it is real, not because i experience it, but since it is real unto itself…’
This requires refinement and work. One needs to step out of one’s own world, and dedicate to what he sees.
