We are looking at two types of influence transmitted to the recipient. 

In one model the mentor shows something attractive and the recipient works to achieve it.

In another model the mentor gives him the desired article or perception itself.

The mashpia/mentor works to give the recipient his own mind - his mindset and vision.

The mentor/mashpia is very engaged in ensuring that the recipient is ‘getting the message’.

He delves into how best to be of influence. 

He relates to the mentee on a level that is more fundamental than sechel/mind.  It becomes fully personal.  He feels the student in his gut/kidneys.  

He strives to ensure that the student gets the truth as he sees it… and this happens via a fully personal relationship.

This element of flow/shefa is not a revelation of his own essence, but rather to affect [and to be affected by] the mentee.

‘Personal’ means being fully involved and showing you my reality, and what is beyond sechel/mind.  

And the recipient relates to and commits to the truth that is being revealed.
