Questions and comments:

There are 2 opinions regarding the lights of atzilus. Are the sphirot found above or only at the stage where the light enters the vessel/keili.

Essence is beyond definition. And the mind can only relate to that which has boundaries.

God created the world, and there is no explanation as to why He did. It was His decision. So too in the lights there is this element – the element of pure reality, without any circumstantial demands.

The infinite light itself – the light from essence... Think of a king. He affects his country and subjects, not by getting involved and defining policy – this is done by the ministers. He affects the country by agreeing to be king. He provides the justification for there being a country.

The king provides the sense of value to his country.

This applies to the microcosm. A person has in his personal experience a moment when he loses interest in everything and anything... and asks... 'why should I?' And in this moment he has lost sense of his own reality. His level of kingship/malchus drives him to go for the good, and does not entail justification.

There is essence and light that reveals it. The light provides no justification – it just reveals essence...

The king's acceptance of being king, is already a step-down from his essential being.

This is why acceptance of the Torah was achieved by means of a faculty beyond comprehension.
