We are looking at how the G-dly soul can be invested in the body and affect and refine the animal soul.
The animal soul first recognizes the life embedded in physicality and chooses that. Later he sees that he should choose Him. This progress is due to the G-dly soul being enclothed in a body, but not involved in creation.
The principle of hishtalshalut/creation is one of 'cause and effect'. The G-dly soul is removed from this limitation.
A hand does not transmit its will to the object it moves. They 'relate' on the purely physical level.
The final product is completely separate from the conception of that thing. He conceives a table and then builds it. When he sits there he relates to it directly because there was a 'cause and effect' process – step by step from conception through design to construction.
There is an element of the G-dly soul, that when greatly reduced relates to the animal soul but it does not affect the nullification of the animal soul. The hand can be trained to write or play a musical instrument, but it does not receive the intelligence to write or play of its own accord.
In contrast we are saying that the G-dly soul becomes involved with the body to such an extent that the animal soul is refined to an extent of changing its perception.
The G-dly soul is supreme in essence, and rooted in essence, and thus it is able to affect a nullification in the physicality, coarse entity.
