What
we have: an important yet illusive principle. Namely, that when you
express a thought or a word consisting of letters, it would seem that
the letters are devoid of sechel or light. The letters are not
arbitrary.
Every
letter is the revelation of a specific vitality and faculty. A letter
is sourced in the human mind and soul.
Genesis:
God makes heaven and earth. It is telling there is a Creator to your
world. How does this change things? You're still in the world? The
Torah is telling you that heaven and earth are not present unless you
recognize there is a Creator for them – that's when they come to
reality. That's why Avraham could find no peace – he went to look
for the Creator and the significance of the world.
The
speaker is focused on the meaning, not on the letters and words.
When many letters are joined together to make words, there is an
element that rises above all of them... this is a drawing of a
superior faculty – a general vitality that includes all the
specifics and is above them.
