“God blew your soul into you. It is not a created entity. Your soul is ‘of Himself’. The soul/neshamah is an essence [atzmi]. Thus there is no limit to what the soul can reach, and to what it can comprehend.“

We are going to look at the difference between light [ohr] and flow [shefa].
The kabbalasits speak from the perspective of Godliness and they mostly use the word ‘light’. The Jewish philosophers tend to use the word ‘flow’.
Both indicate input from a source. The word flow [shefa] - like water that flows - points to an identifiable element that is given from the mentor to the recipient. Like the giving of a coin from the wealthy to the poor.
The flow - shefa is due to the recipients’s position, not the giver’s position.
A real mentor gives from who he is. He gives over what he has lived through - he indicates not information, but actual personal terms.
