The sun illuminates by its presence. It says to the world: “Who told you you’re dark? I own you. You’re light.” So too the soul vivifies the body.

Light comes from a luminary not via any process. There’s a revelation of essence. The sun says, ‘this world is not dark. It is bright. It changes the world.’
However, there is a reduction just by virtue of becoming revealed.
Revelation gives the light a presence. When it is in the sun the light has no ‘individual’ identity. At the time the light is revealed it becomes a thing/metziut - this is lower than how it had been while within the sun/luminary.
And this sun does not create brightness. This is what it is in essence. It is not a worldly presence.
The light reveals that, ‘No, this world is not just a physical world. It is here because God wants it to be’.
The soul enlivens the body, similarly to how the sun gives off light - effortlessly.
The sun illuminates by its presence. It says to the world: “Who told you you’re dark. I own you. You’re light.” So too the soul vivifies the body.
The presence of the light nullifies the darkness.
The nefesh vivifies the body without overpowering it. It allows the body to still feel the world, but at the same time gives it vitality.
And it is a reflection of the soul [ha’arat hanefesh] that accomplishes this.
The sun is the essence of brightness. The ray is the light without the brightness. So too with the soul - it is the essence of life - and the life element [not the essence that enables it] is what gets provided to the body.
And the soul provides this vitality, without any degree of engagement.
By coming into contact with the body the body is effortlessly provided with life.
