The mentor/mashpia is very engaged in ensuring that the recipient is ‘getting the message’.

He delves into how best to be of influence. 

He relates to the mentee on a level that is more fundamental than sechel/mind.  It becomes fully personal.  He feels the student in his gut/kidneys.  

He strives to ensure that the student gets the truth as he sees it… and this happens via a fully personal relationship.

This element of flow/shefa is not a revelation of his own essence, but rather to affect [and to be affected by] the mentee.

‘Personal’ means being fully involved and showing you my reality, and what is beyond sechel/mind.  

And the recipient relates to and commits to the truth that is being revealed.

Mind/sechel sees the truth.  This is God’s world so everything you see entices you - it is all real to you - He made a world with this variety.

Man is always aware.  Even while sleeping.  A human being knows furniture is there, not because he bumps into it, but because it is a divine presentation.  There’s a Creator behind the world, and He says: ‘Here’s what I am presenting to you.’

Man is never oblivious.

There’s a Godly element that is the beginning of everything.  And it is also embedded in the soul of man [nefesh ha’adam].  This is reflected in man’s sense that ‘things should be right’.

In throwing a stone there is an appreciation of ‘doing it right’, and in the act of painting there is an even deeper sense… a hergesh pnimi [an inner appreciation].

A stone can be thrown pretty well without much attention [after a person has developed the skill].  The mind does remain engaged on a concealed level.  The same cannot be said of the act of painting - the mind/sechel must remain on a deeper and more overt level.

The faculties have a certain embedded intelligence.  The faculty of throwing, in the hand, is involved in what it is doing. 

A person is protective of, and feels an affinity to, his handiwork.  

The activity of throwing feels an affinity for what it is doing. 

Nothing happening in the world or human being is ‘world created’.  Man is a divine creation, with a divine soul.  Thus all that occurs to, and within, man has a divine sensitivity.  There is a recognition of what it is doing.  

The soul/nefesh is embedded in the hand and the foot.  

None of the faculties has a worldly origin.  

Accomplishing is also part of the reality of the faculty.  It is not just a dumb faculty, it is a divine creation.

The faculties of the hand are a divine creation.  They are a living part of the human being, and is involved in what it is doing.

Cause and effect is much closer to our understanding than ‘something from nothing’ [yesh mi’ein].

This makes for a novel presence - a thing that cannot be traced back to a prior sense.

It is based on an insight we have - emunah/faith, which is deeper than wisdom.  It is a point of truth.  

We don’t ‘discover it on our own’.  It was put into us.
