Cause and effect is much closer to our understanding than ‘something from nothing’ [yesh mi’ein].

The source is called ein - nothing.   A non-entity relative to the yesh - something.

Something gets created by intention.  The ‘nothing’ had to focus and say, ‘I want to make this thing’. 

This makes for a novel presence - a thing that cannot be traced back to a prior sense. 

This is like something given from the hand to a stone to make it fly.
