The full service is the level of silence...

We spoke of the higher nullification... and usually you may think of nullification/bitul as low level. But no, actually bitul/nullification has very profound intelligence...!

And this silence reaches into the interior of the crown (pnimius hakesser).

On the external level, 'you get what ever you take, you don't get Me'. On the interior level you get Me, and that level only goes where it will be recognized as such. You can't take it and do with it what you want...

The highest level of internal is silence. You don't interpret. You receive it as it is given.

In the world, it is taken for granted that a person's primary awareness is himself... This is beyond that.

Chochmah/wisdom does not agree that, 'the primary existence is me'. It goes straight to the reality. Knowing there is a first being comes before knowing yourself. This is a soul thing. This is the source of all intelligence.

For the chocham/wise man, the primary reality is God, not himself.

How does he relate to this First Being if he does not have a means to grasp it and translate it in his own life...? There are many levels in this... one level is we accept Your rulings, but then at the splitting of the sea there was a higher level – there was no recipient. It was a level of 'I don't need to translate it into my reality at all, this is the primary reality'. This is the silence that is the interior of the crown...!

Every moment of a person's life are real.

One difference between the inner an exterior levels is that in an exterior setting things can be taken out of context and still function.

At the interior, it will go only where its entire truth will be recognized. It has to be reflective of 'where this is coming from'.

In the 'silence' an aspect of the interior of the crown (pnimiut hakesser) is brought down (nimshach).

The silence is part of chochmah/wisdom. That means it is not 'silence' due to 'I don't know what to say'. Rather this silence is an approach of 'I don't want to disturb this with my own thoughts'. And this is called, completeness of service (shlaymut ha-avodah).

“Intent Beyond Presence” p: 35

We looked at the silence that existed at the dividing of the sea... we said it indicates the highest nullification.

Bitul/nullification indicates the lowest level, non function, but here it is indicating the highest level – beyond understanding. And all comes from Above rather than from his own activity.

Thus it is said, 'the fence that leads to chochmah/wisdom is silence...' - Pirkei Avot.

You have faculties of your soul – chochmah/wisdom is the highest of them. Above the faculties is the 'living human being'. Chochmah is the highest faculty because it can relate to this makif – the 'living human being'.

The makif comes from the essence.

The silence is the means by which the chochmah can relate to the makif.

The silence reaches an aspect of the interior of the crown (pnimiut ha kesser), which is the 'intent', that is beyond 'presence'.

The real human being is this pure truth. Something that is there in silence. The most significant aspects of a person are not his capabilities, but rather, 'who made me'. This is a silent aspect that is above wisdom (chochmah).

“Service of Silence” p: 35

We are looking at the principle that there can be an influence (hamshacha) that is infinite yet measured.

To be a vessel, a service of silence is required. This nullification/silence makes him a receptacle for 'atik' – that which is beyond definition. What allows a person to 'put himself totally aside'?

The world is proposing that knowledge is only that which affects you forcefully. We say the opposite. We say a human being has soul faculties. He knows things that are beyond experience. He knows due to the life of his soul. He knows because he is alive.

There is knowledge beyond knowledge. 'You don't know what you know'. You know it by virtue of its truth, not by virtue of your ability to know.

Putting oneself totally aside, means to fully give up knowing as a separate entity.

The basis of being able to do this is an awareness of reality beyond knowledge. 'There is truth beyond my ability to know and I don't want to know it, I want to relate to it...!'
