We talked about how the light when in the vessel, assumes the qualities of the vessel...

The light is involved with, and translated on, the level of the vessel...

This is naturally much lower than the level of the essence of this light...

And the vessel is refined by being a vessel for the light...

We are looking at how there are different levels in the light... and that's why there is the three-fold repetition of the word 'holy'. This difference is in the degree of revelation of the light...

There's the faculty of movement, and then there's the faculty of writing... in the ability to write the light is more revealed.

“Angels, Animals & Human Beings” p:72(18)

AyinBase / Ayin Beis with R' Paltiel, 13 Tevet 5775

At top of the page – (line begins: 'leehiyot...') For text see below.

The light always remains connected to its source – to essence. The levels of essential light are expressed by the three-fold repetition of the word 'holy/kadosh'.

Life is constant. But there is a level of life that is put into the body, and this life needs to be maintained. In this context we say, 'I eat so I will live' – this is a combination of body and soul. This is the body experiencing life at its level.

The light of the soul and the soul itself does not know there is such a thing as eating.

But where this light comes to the level of 'oh, I have to eat to live', that is only where there is the situation of 'life/light in a vessel'.

Yet the 'light' element remains, even though one is conforming to the physical requirement of needing food... So even though the body is involved, life remains an 'ohr/light'. It is light dressed in a vessel.

The light 'understands' the vessel, and 'acts appropriately' for the vessel.

The vessel is refined by the light that comes into it...

So the light becomes like the vessel and the vessel becomes like the light...

The reason the vessel can accept the light, and the hand can accept the direction of the mind, and develop a symbiosis between mind and hand (light and vessel) is due to the fact that it is one soul that is dressed in the sechel and the hand... life itself is dressed in both... the soul element is in mind and hand...

“Super Reality” p:72(17)

AyinBase / Ayin Beis with R' Paltiel, 11 Tevet 5775

Page 72(17)

At 2nd paragraph of the page – (line begins: 'vehinei...') For text see below.

The tzimtzum is superior to the parsa, since the light is removed and then recreated in a totally different reality – the light is reintroduced at a 'worldly' level...

The light is drawn from the original source into the vessel. This is light from the essence, even though it is after complete concealment.

There is no way to define life in worldly terms. It is simple – not composite. Only on a lower level does this vital sensitivity shows itself as kindness or severity etc...

This is the principle of getting dressed in vessels (hislabshut be keilim).

And the light acquires the character of the vessel, even though at essence it remains simple.

The vessel has an effect on the light, so that the light should be according to the nature of the vessel.

“Sun & Moon Light” p:72(17)

AyinBase / Ayin Beis with R' Paltiel,

10 Tevet 5775

At 8th line from top of the page – (line begins: 'kulhi...') For text see below.

The Rebbe is making a distinction between the 'parsa' (curtain) and the tzimtzum. Both are a means to enable the Godly light to descend and relate to the worldly presence... Godliness is primary – a presence that is not the result of any kind of activity – it is beyond understanding and grasp.

Tzimzum involves a removal of the light which is then re-introduced. So the reality of the light is removed but the message remains. In parsa the reality of the light 'takes up residency'.

“Essence Concealed” p:72(17)

At 8th line from top of the page – (line begins: 'kulhi...') For text see below.

The discussion has been to point out that light always remains reflective of an aspect of the essence, even thought it has undergone a contraction and acquired a relationship to 'world'...

The light, no matter the level, always retains a cleaving to its source...

By means of a curtain/parsa the light comes through a concealing element, but the reality of the light remains... still above being relevant to worlds... The light 'takes up residency' in the parsa, and takes on a new identity – like a person moving to a new country and becoming acclimated...
