We are recognizing there is a source for the keilim/vessels.

The source functions in a hidden manner.

This means without light and revelation (ohr and gilui).

Light and revelation (ohr and gilui) imply connection to the source/makor. Makor: think of water from an underground spring or from a river. The real makor of these examples is the spring, rather than the river which is like a reservoir (a place where the water is existing in contrast to 'coming into existence').

Light and revelation (ohr and gilui) imply connection to the source/makor and like spring water they appear on the scene like a new creation.

The rishimu/trace does not carry the connection to the source and is thus called a hidden faculty (koach ne-elam).

It is a trace of, 'something having been there'.

The vessels lack revealed significance.

We are getting into the topic of keilim/vessels.

We are recognizing that vessels have a vitality of their own independent of the ohr/light that is dressed in them.

The vitality they have is of a concealed type and does not declare its connection to it source...

The reshimu/trace is this aspect of a concealed faculty (koach ne-elam).

The reshimu gives presence to the vessels – the reshimu is a 'left over trace' of the full presence of the essence...!

“Concealed Vitality; Get Up, Stand Up” p:20-21 / 15

We are saying that the vessels, although from the tzimtzum/reshimu itself – ie from concealment, not light, nevertheless there is vitality/chayut to them. This is a concealed type of vitality.

What gets a person out of bed? A concealed vitality. You may say, I slept enough and now I get myself up. But this is not the truth. It is a spirit beyond our sechel/mind that get us up. It is not something coming naturally from ourselves – it is a blessing from Him.

Now think of light and vessel. The light of sechel/mind will not get you out of bed. There is a different level of reality that gets you up. The actual 'getting up' is the vessel – it is the culmination at the practical level. And it is not caused by the sechel/mind.

The reshimu/trace is the imprint from a different reality. It is this trace that remains when a man is lying drunk in the gutter denying his humanity. It always remains.

It is from this trace that can be drawn the entire human being.

Sechel is not an initiator. It guides the action, but cannot initiate it. The sechel provides definition to the action, but cannot initiate it.

“Actual Kindness; Simple Sense of Reality” p:20/15

There are names of God that may never be erased. These names each refer to a different sphirah. There's a name that refers to kindness/chesed. And the reference here is not to the 'light' of kindness, but rather to the 'vessel' of kindness. Which is call 'actual kindness' – the 'form' of kindness – chesed mamash.

But then we turn around and say, the names refer to Him Himself. So yes, it is is in the vessel, but in the light and vitality of the vessel. This is the vitality that makes the vessel exist (as opposed to the light that fills the vessel).

This vitality of the vessel is actually rooted in the reshimu/trace.

And what is the reshimu/trace. Think of a man getting out of bed – sechel/mind won't do it – an essential element is needed. The actual getting up is a factual element – it is a vessel – it is a summation – and it is based on, 'hey, this is reality!' This reality is a sense in a person that he has an element that is beyond his own sechel/mind and feelings. He is part of a bigger reality and must participate in it. This is what gets him up.

And the reshimu/trace is like this. When you realize a primary truth, you can communicate the external words that can contain your sechel/ideas.

“Getting Out of Bed” p:20/15

The feeling of compassion won't necessarily result in an act of compassion.

The logic and realization that it is time to get out of bed is not sufficient... you need something to touch your essence...

It is the trace/reshimu that gives reality to the keilim/vessels. The trace/reshimu remains because the preceding reality was 'too real' for it to be fully erased...
This is what gives them a 'have to be there' quality.
