We
are saying that the light that is desired is the ohr pnimi
(internalized light), which can be presented within a vessel.
Think
of chesed/kindness. Chesed is the sense that 'we are not separated'
from each other. We can go out of ourselves and have a feel for
someone else. This is chesed/kindness. This is like water that runs
from a high place to a lower place.
And
this emotion needs to be defined more specifically so it can be
translated into an action – like giving a coin.
The
action is a translation of the kindness in the soul.
