“Begin With This...” p: 54

There is a world below briah called yetzirah. This corresponds to the level of speech. The letters are felt and identifiable by another.

The light that comes via the letters is very limited. This makes it possible for it to be revealed and expressed. In speech the fact that we have letters, sounds and words gives the impression that actually the speech and the ability to talk is independent of the thought and sechel behind it. The fact is that a person cannot say anything, without there being some kind of midah/emotion/impetus that brings him to speak. Even reading words, there has to be something enlivening that activity.  

Why does someone communicate an idea? This is because he senses the universality of the idea and the rav is challenged to cross the distance between him and his students. The words he uses are measured and grasp a certain element of the sechel.



What do these words grasp? What the rav sees in his sechel is based on his deeper insight and he doesn't at the beginning reveal this. He says, 'what do I see when I do not really have the insight?' - and from this level he begins to transmit to the student. What is seen without the insight? - The logic and the structure is seen and the teacher begins with this...
