We
are looking at how the sphirot are above. And we are using almost
the same language as we did when talking about the way the faculties
are dressed in the limbs of a human being...
we
are saying there are lights in vessels. And the vessels and lights
relate to each other.
The
mind (chochmah) is dressed in the brain (moach).
For
each light there is a unique vessel.
The
light is made to fit the vessel.
A
metaphor: one person could be given the Empire State building as a
personal dwelling. But it would be ridiculous. It would be a light
and vessel that did not correlate.
Each
sphira and faculty has a unique and exclusive vessel.
We
do chessed/kindness, seemingly as a response to a circumstance. We
see someone and come to their aid. But did the observation create
the response, or did it exist previously in the human being?
We
don't have a way to identify the light of the soul (ohr hanefesh), so
we tend to identify things by their functionality rather than their
reality.
The
real meaning of the world is that reality is working through various
discreet vessels.
Sight
is a metaphor for chochmah/wisdom and for sechel/mind in general.
There is a fundamental difference between how sight vs touch relate
to objects.
The
eye is such a clear channel that we just sense reality. This is a
metaphor for how the vessel is suited to the ohr it contains...
Mochin
means to know the truth unto itself. Midot (emotions) are 'how do I
relate to it'.
This
is the greatness of sight, this is the greatness of
chochmah/wisdom/חכמה
