The souls of Israel represent essence. They have the element of total humility/bitul.

They also have the power of return. They can turn themselves over and return to Him. Tshuvah/return is not on a functional level – it is an essential move.

Tshuvah/return defies definition. A person my have everything, but the soul says, 'this is not my place'. And it moves to 'pnimius ve-atzmis ein sof' – to the essence.

The soul comes back to being totally incorporated in the most hidden of hidden levels.

Torah says, 'if you walk in my ways, I will give you your rains in their time' – saying that everything, including nature depends on Torah.

Nature is the 'external union' (yichud chitzoni). In nature you have the element of conflict and resolution.
