The
Rebbe is explaining a kabbalah term to us. The term is
reshimu/trace. The tzimtzum means the infinite light is retracted
and the reshimu/trace is what remains.
In
the human being you have the light and the vessel. You have the
intellect and meaning which indicates what he is doing and then there
is the factual action. In the human being you cannot have a light
without the vessel nor the vessel without the light.
The
reshimu is the trace. Like what remains on paper after the writing
was erased. It is markings without ohr. It does not have real
coherent meaning. You are left with a vessel/markings without
light...
The
creation of the keilim is from the ohr/light. Reshimu reveals the
coarse element of the keili/vessel. The reshimu elicits the vessels
and the light reveals them.
Lights
do not have a presence. They only have a message.
