At about midway into the page – (line begins: 'she-hare hu...') For text see below.

What is the significance of the light remaining essential/simple/pashut even while dressed in the vessel? It takes on the contours of the vessel, but retains its neutrality/simplicity. This is because the light is atzmi/essential.

To think of light, think of the host and the guest. The presence of the host is the most important element. This connection between the guest and the host is called light/ohr. The guest values immensely this closeness. Should the host leave, the guest couldn't even eat his meal.

When the sage asks for a simple service from an illiterate man, he senses, there is a level in the sage where, 'I count'. This interaction is called ohr/light.

This is like when a man buys a home. His presence illuminates the entire home although nothing has changed on a practical/physical level. The light/ohr of the owner illuminates the entire home. His ownership of the home is a Godly mandate. His relationship there is very real and present.

And when he's not there, the home carries his name. The Godly name is present in the world. This is what the world is.

The human being has an amazing effect on the world, not due to any action – just by being. The world without a human being has no reality.

A man's home is more than 'protection from the elements'.

Words don't describe our inner experience of light...

The light serves 'no practical purpose', but this light is what provides human significance and meaning...

The place setting represents the host's view of the guest, and his statement, 'I value you as a human being'.

It takes refinement of intellect to acknowledge the relationship between the host and the guest. Some will continue to just focus on the food or say, “I'm here for the beer...!”

The point: light is the light of the essence. Like a name attests to what the human being is in essence. The whole world is Godly light. And what does it represent? That the world is a Godly creation! This is like the king's palace and people... the king's name represents the presence of the king himself. If we look at our world and say, 'what does it represent? What's its message?' The answer: 'its Creator is beyond world. He's in a completely different quality. The quality of having been created by The First Being'.
