The Rebbe is explaining to us the topic of bechirah/choice. G-d chooses on the one hand what is His and rooted within Him. On the other hand this is not automatic – there is a choice to choose this. To want what is His inner desire is His choice because he is not compelled in any way.
This is the difference between the inner and the outer levels. Is the infinity of the world, just there or is He providing it? The reason space is infinite is not due to the presence of space, but due to His provision. Every little thing that has to do with the people Israel has a positive and intended element.
But for every inner level there is an outer excess level. Because of the infinite level it allows itself also to be observed also from an external level. On the one hand we say a name captures the essence of the person and can bring him out of a faint. On the other hand a name is added to the person after his birth. So here we have 2 different principles – the name is the essence and it is additional! This second level is additional and external. The reason there is the second level: yes, he was born for his name and his purpose. And he has a reality due to this purpose that is independent. An essence is presence even where he is not.
Nothing happens by rote. The intentional element is what defines it as pnimi. The intentional reality as opposed to the identifiable reality is Elokus...
Oneg/pleasure is in the moach/mind and the ratzon/will is in the heart. A human being needs mind and heart. What is the difference. Moach is the perception at the level where he is not a factor – this is oneg. Ratzon is where he goes out of himself looking for something – that is an active element and takes place in the heart.
