The
Rebbe explains the way the service is for the Godly soul... and this
is expressed by the verse, 'God is one'. The verse is saying, that
the world does not affect in any way the Godly unity.
And
this is due to the true essential nature of Godliness. Thus the
contraction has no effect on it.
There
is no place where it is not true. Godliness is exactly the same as
it was before creation... all is considered as non-existent.
The
whole world is included in Godliness and based on Godliness.
The
Godly soul senses this unity – that Godliness cannot be displaced.
By contrast the animal soul does not relate to this sense at all.
So
the avodah/work of the animal soul is to eliminate any obstacles to
recognition of the Godly presence and to allow the Godly presence to
be revealed in the world.
You
may know there is a world due to your experience and encounter of
it... so what's wrong with that? The problem is that it just happens
to be there. It is not real knowledge. What it is there and what it
represents is the real knowledge and perspective.
Godly
means, 'I know it due to its significance'. The animal soul does not
have this kind of sensitivity...
The
animal soul relates to the world via its experiences...
