Page
60 [of the pamphlet] At about the 6th of the page – line
starts: 'hanefesh habahamit'. (P46 in the book)
We
are looking at the Garden of Eden. It is made from the letter yud –
this is chochmah. Chochmah is brought down and planted into the
garden. The fruit comes after the planting. Adam was placed in the
garden to work there and this brings out the fruit – the chochma
receives the oneg/delight.
Delight
is impossible to describe or conceptualize. It is a divine presence
in the soul. It has no beginning or end. It makes the clear
statement, 'there is reality'.
Oneg
is the reality.
So
in the garden the planting comes first. The greatness is shown in
the fruit. You bring out the fruit with avodah/work. Bringing
sacrifices. Purifying one's inner animal. This draws additional
lights into the garden from the aspect of chochmah.
Light
means the impact of the presence of the truth.
We
bring light into the world through purification of the animal soul.
This
draws light from above chochmah/wisdom; from the level of
kesser/crown. This is the infinite element (the ohr ein sof) that
resides in chochmah – an aspect preceding the tzimtzum/contraction
that creates the world.
So
we draw into world not just oneg as absorbed by chochmah, but also
that which is above it – oneg as it is in kesser.
Usually
the sacrifices occur in the Temple in Jerusalem. An exception to
this is the Red Heifer (para aduma), which is offered outside of
town. And this corresponds to tshuvah/repentance.
Tshuvah
is to transform the even impulse which fell due to the breaking of
the vessels. About it, it is said, 'I will find you outside', and
this corresponds to the work of the repentant...
