60 [of the pamphlet] At about the 8th of the page – line
starts: 'ha-bli gvul'. (P46 in the book)
In
the Garden of Eden, Adam's job was to work it and guard it. Working
it corresponds to the positive commandments, and guarding it to the
prohibitive commandments.
This
draws the light of the crown [ohr of kesser] into the garden.
And
this is the trace of infinity [roshem ha bli gvul].
So,
Adam's work is so that there will be a revelation and recognition of
the surrounding light, within the context of the filling light
[memaale kol olmin].
The
work in the garden is primarily that of sacrifices. And this means
elevating the animal soul. The service/sacrifice of the Red Heifer
is done exclusively outside the Temple in Jerusalem...!
There
is a river that flows from Eden and forms 4. this is the 4 animals
of the merkavah, from which evolve the 4 kingdoms [Edom, Yishmoel
etc], which is the element of fallen delight/tynug [due to the
breaking of the vessels].
The
work of the service of the Red Heifer is to go outside to where the
delight fell and elevate it. As it says, 'I will find You outside'.
This refers to the baal tshuvah / repentant who finds himself
outside.
And
the blood is splashed 7 times – this alludes to rising its depths.
Then
the heifer is burnt – this is turning it to ashes – going to
essence of its reality...
So
too the evil inclination has a form of evil made up of its
will and 'mind'. This form needs to be fully burned and eradicated.
Then the ashes remain – the simple element of desire without
design. And this simple level can be transformed to holiness.
When
this faculty of desire is transferred to holiness it becomes a drive
towards Godliness.
