The
light represents the essence and has no reason to be exposed.
The
principle of nature is essentially cause and effect. Soul is not
nature. The life of the soul is not a natural life it is an
essential life. And there is no distinction between the Provider of
the life and the life of the soul. Yet the soul comes to the level
where it provides for the natural life of the soul. The presence of
the soul brings life to the body. This is completely contrary to the
essential life of the soul.
part one:
The
light of the soul as it comes down and the love that is experienced
by the soul is all in proximity to the sense of the body, till it is
almost correct to say that the body has a sense of love and fear (of
G-d).
part two:
To
clarify love and fear: without avodah/service we think of fear as a
big buffalo facing us and about to charge. The alte Rebbe explains
in Tanya that the beinoni/intermediate is always serving, but he may
not have love and fear and thus you might think his deeds lack wings
to fly to Him. But that's not the case, since he realizes he should
have fear and love and that is sufficient. The point for us: in our
intellect it is much easier to realize a G-dly truth than in our
emotion. This is because the intellect is like sight. I see it
because it is there. Emotion does not project itself, it has to be
directly touched. And to be touched by elokus one has to be refined
and work to liberate oneself from the clutches of the world.
This
love and fear that the soul feels is according to the sense of the
body. The body is refined to the extent that the body is actually
affected by the greatness of G-dliness/Elokus.
The
soul is part and parcel of the reality it perceives.
