The
principle of the soul joining with the body is the form/purpose
superceding the chomer/material.
This
is like the hand which has no inclination of its own and does not
resist at all the faculty of writing that animates it... thus the
faculty is present in a settled way and the body does not fight
against the soul that animates it...
In
this way the light of the soul can be revealed in the body. Just
like for light to flow, there must be no obstruction and no
resistance and thus it arrives in peace.
So
too in sechel/mind there is the argument and then there is the light
of the mind, where the perception of how it is, and how it should be
does not need argument or proof, rather a light of perception and
reality.
For
the light to shine there must be no resistance from the body.
The
fact that the soul can give direction to the hand, and that the hand
follows, is called absolute subservience. 'I write a letter, without
thinking about the lines and the actions, because the hand follows
the direction without resistance'. The faculty of writing is in a
settled state in the hand.
The
calm is when the nature is not opposing the soul. The body calms
down and the soul is settled and revealed in the body. This is the
principle of hischabrut/union. The body does not act independently
and has no tendency of its own. And now the soul can remain
revealed in the body. When you look at him you see soul not body.
