Although
avodah/service involves run and return... however there is an
instance of a 'run' without the need for a return.
If the love/run/ratzu
is for the ohr ein sof, not due to its closeness and dedication, but
rather due to its supremacy then the yearning is for going beyond
worldly measures. This is in contrast with the 'return' that follows
a ratzu/run based on kiruv/closeness.
In love of delight,
there is completion in itself and there is no demand for return...
Love not associated
with avodah/service, is ahavah betynugim – love in delight. It is
complete in itself!
When the ratzu/run
has also an element of bitul, then it will be followed by
shuv/return. What is this bitul?
What is rising to be
'outside the world'? This is a soul striving. It is in the capacity
of the soul to want complete freedom from world. If the 'run' has
the truth element in it... if it has the bitul/nullification, then
there will be the return/shuv afterwards...
If he has the desire
for Godliness, then what is the bitul/nullification? It is another
dimension in the truth of the soul/neshamah. He has bitul, and thus
pursues a work/avodah/service that conforms with the Godly will.
Why would he have
bitul if his desire is so pure and great? It is because of what
truth is. The soul is supreme. It just wants Godliness. And the
soul says, 'where did I get this desire from? I got it from what He
gave! It is impossible to reach that level of desire by personal
effort – it is from Him! If I want to go out of this world it is a
desire from Him, and so I must relate to the intention of why it was
given – and that is the real truth and that is the inyan of bitul!'
When Moses was on the
mountain, God said to him 'lech red' – 'go down', and Rashi
explains, 'go down from your greatness' says God, because the purpose
is to lead Isreal. The initial intent is the real force and truth
behind reality.
